Element Mobile and the Rafters raised $ 3,540 for the Wisconsin Rapids Boys and Girls Club at their benefit concert on Saturday, June 30. The concert held at Witter Field featured entertainment by local country band, Tuscan Road.
The concert was a community event, not only promoted by Element Mobile and the Rafters, but also local residents. The Rafters promoted the concert on Facebook and local karaoke disc jockey, Karaoke Karl, donated 50 cents for every ?like? post he received. In total, that amounted to a $ 500 donation to the Wisconsin Rapids Boys and Girls Club.
Rob Wefel, executive director of the Boys and Girls Club, said his organization was very pleased with the event. These funds will help the organization with operating expenses.
?The concert was a great success and we were pleased to have the support of so many people in the community,? Wefel said. ?We are grateful for all the hard work the Rafters Baseball organization and Element Mobile did. Their commitment to community organizations like ours is a true statement of their desire to make a difference in our hometown.?
Liz Kern, general manager of the Rafters said the Wisconsin Rapids community played a big part of making the concert a success, as did Tuscan Road. The band donated half of their CD sales at the concert to the Wisconsin Rapids Boys and Girls Club.
?In talking with event goers, I heard a lot of positive feedback about Tuscan Road,? Kern said. ?The band put on a tremendous show and I think they won many new fans from playing at this venue. The event was a success, and the nature of this event has a lot of potential to be even bigger and better, next year.?
Planning for next year?s event has already begun.
